KW AccessAbility Activities March 24 to April 4

Spring may have sprung, but Winter just doesn't seem to want to go away! Let's hope the first week of April will be warmer. 

This week to help combat the cold, we're cooking with the Pillsbury Dough Boy, laughing with a Steve Martin classic movie and relaxing on Friday with some hot food that will take the "cold temperature" out of our "chill" event. 

 

We had a small but mighty group at the Planning Meeting last Thursday, so events coming up in April have been set. You can see all of them on our website calendar. We didn't come up with an event for Thursday April 3 or Tuesday April 8, so if you have any suggestions, please let me know. 

 

On Monday March 31 the in-office Coffee Shop is Closed. You can still socialize virtually on Zoom. See the Retro Event listing below, for the link.

 

Reminder - KW AccessAbility Annual Membership is still only $15.00. If you haven't already done so, please update your membership dues now.  

 

 

 

1:00 pm to 4:00 pm - KWA Café Coffee Shop (at the KWA Office) - We turn the office into a Coffee Shop. Come out to socialize with friends and peers here, instead of at an expensive Coffee Shop. We have coffee, tea, hot chocolate and soft drinks available. There will also be a different baked treat each week (like cookies or scones). We've also added things like cheese & crackers and fruit occasionally. Cost is just $2.00. 12:00 pm to 3:30 pm - In The Kitchen - Stuffed Crescent Rolls - We're going to get creative with Pillsbury's famous Crescent Rolls. We'll be making Chicken Stuffed Crescents and Reuben Crescent Bake. Cost is $5.00.

 

 

1:00 pm to 3:00 pm - Wii Bowling Group Two - It's an afternoon of Wii Game Console Bowling fun on our Big Screen.  This week it's Group 2 and there are still spots available.  As we have a lot of members participating, there are 2 different groups, each bowling every other week. Call the office 519-885-6640 or reply to this email to let us know you would like to join us this week (Next Date for Group 2 is April 9)

1:00 pm to 3:30 pm - Afternoon Movie - Cheaper By The Dozen (2003) - We're watching the original Steve Martin version this month. The movie is about Tom and Kate Baker who have compromised their careers to raise 12 children. Tom coaches a high-school football team, while Kate has retired from journalism to raise the family. Things change when Tom is offered a college coaching job in a new city at the same time a publisher buys Kate's parenting memoir, and she goes on a book tour. Event Cost is still only $2.00 and includes a beverage and popcorn. The movie has descriptive video. 

 

 

4:30 pm to 7:00 pm - After Hours Chill Party at the KWA Office - It's a chance to relax with your peers and wind down from the week. Come out for friendship and socializing at the KWA office. While some may be getting ready to celebrate MapleFest, we're having KWA FreezerFest! There will be wings, chicken nuggets, scalloped potatoes and a variety of leftover cakes! 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm - Retro Event - KWA Café Online Video Chat - You can stay in and still socialize with friends and peers.  It's our original virtual KWA Café. Chat while enjoying your own beverage of choice. Click Here to connect on Zoom.

 

 

1:00 pm to 3:00 pm - An Afternoon with the Laurier Students - No Fooling, it's the Last Time the 3 students from Laurier kinesiology will be here to give you an enjoyable variety afternoon of Games and Adaptive Fitness. It doesn't matter if you're in a wheelchair, use a walker, have vision loss or are ambulatory, the activities are adapted to suit everyone's abilities.

Friday March 28 - Black Forest Cake Day (not one of the leftovers for Chill Night, sorry)

Saturday March 29 - World Piano Day, Smoke and Mirrors Day, and International Mermaid Day!
